Path of Exile Item Upgrades
The performance of a variety of Path of Exile items can be improved by upgrading the performance of them. They can be a fantastic source of additional damage or more AD or even more affixes.

Armor
Armor upgrades are a kind of upgrade that can be used on weapons and armor items. They boost the performance of the item that they're attached to. There are a few different kinds of armor upgrades available in the game and they all have different effects. For instance, certain upgrades give the armor a certain amount of health points while others will make it stronger and lighter. The type of armor upgrade that an item will receive will be indicated by the name of the upgrade, as shown in the table below.
Some of the upgrades also require magic or a combination of technology and magic, as indicated by the "Magic" and "Hybrids" entries in the table below. Some upgrades also require charges for use. They are referred to as "Charges" entries in the table. These charges are either updated daily or never expire based on the upgrade.
The cheapest way to upgrade armor is to use Iron Ore, which can be found by exploring the area and looting small loot chests. Therefore, item upgrader is generally not recommended to upgrade most armor pieces that are higher than +9 since the added defense is typically not worth the extra weight and power cost of the upgrades needed.
Weapons
Weapon upgrades allow players to improve the effectiveness of certain aspects of an weapon. Most players will want to prioritize weapon upgrades for the weapons they are most likely to use to allow them to progress quicker. In addition players, they should think about upgrading the weapons they use with their teammates to make them more powerful and effective. Jewels

All levels of jewels are crafted at the Jeweler and Jeweler's Workshop, with the exception of the rare and legendary jewels that require you to be at a certain level to qualify for them. Like other upgrade components jewels are able to be swapped with a jewel of the same kind without damaging it. However it is only possible to replace the jewels in a piece of equipment once.
Using more jewels in a move can make it feel more comfortable, and is often done to enhance the aesthetics of the movement. In addition to enhancing performance, the diamonds create an area that is stronger than steel, so the repeated friction from pivots doesn't damage them as easily.
In addition to the above upgrades, the player can also obtain glyphs for their weapons and shields from a Glyphmaster. These glyphs offer a small boost and can be exchanged, however they're not guaranteed to appear as loot. Glyphs, like jewelry, can be upgraded at the Jeweler to exchange Scattered Crystals and gold. Glyphs can also be taken out, which returns them to the inventory. Other upgrade components such as traits or aegis cannot be exchanged and can only be found by using an Upgrade extractor or salvaging using the Black Lion Salvage Kit or Ascended Salvage tool.
Trinkets
Trinkets can be used to provide your hero with various small, but useful benefits. You can find them in the starter area as loot or personal story rewards. The first trinket a player will unlock is the cloak. It provides a tiny but beneficial boost in speed of movement and the ability to escape. Each piece of gear comes with one upgrade slot that can accommodate either a universal upgrade or a jewel upgrade. Universal upgrades are smaller and can be used on any piece of equipment. Jewels are not upgradeable or replaced and only work with certain trinkets.
These trinkets also provide additional bonuses and abilities that are active when the hero is not in combat. This lets a hero become more efficient even when not in combat. It can also make up for the absence of strong slot in the talent tree or team that are normally filled by the hero's best stats.
As a general rule, trinket upgrades should prioritize BiS (Best in Slot) items you won't replace anytime soon. Next, any items that have desirable statistics aren't as important as the iLevel for the item to be upgraded.
